ARAI showcases innovation in green mobility and announces significant projects at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) announced the dates of SIAT 2026, launched of Concept Demo of Over-Head Automated Charging Device and exchanged MoU with FSID at Bharat Mandapam today in the esteem presence of Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy.

New Delhi, January 18, 2025: The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the autonomous body with Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, in presence of Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy; Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Dr. Sarvanan-ARAI Governing Council President (CTO Ashok Leyland) today announced the dates of ARAI’s flagship event- Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT-2026), exchanged MoU with Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) for collaboration for innovation, research and development, technology development, testing & validation and engineering services at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Along with this, the launch of Concept Demo of Over-Head Automated Charging Device Pantograph (OH-ACD), an indigenous-design that will meet the demands of the evolving transportation landscape also took place at the event. Dr. N.H. Walke, Senior Deputy Director-ARAI and Convener for SIAT 2026; Mr. Yogesh Pandit, Director Product Acceleration, Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development, IISc and Mr. Karthick Athmanathan, Professor of Practice, IIT Madras with Mr. Ajithkumar T K, CEO- CoEZET, IIT Madras were also part of the ceremony along with their teams. 

The Hon’ble Minister also announced the commence of ARAI’s participation at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The organization will showcase its technology and services at Stall no. H11-04, Bharat Mandapam; H2-02, Yashobhoomi; H1-A14, India Expo Centre & Mart from 17th to 22nd January 2025. 

ARAI is displaying its innovation in green mobility and safety technology along with an extensive service portfolio. Over-Head Automated Charging Device (concept demo)- ARAI’s one of the pathbreaking projects in association with IIT-Madras is on display at Bharat Mandapam. Over-Head Automated Charging Device (concept demo) represents a leap forward in fast charging solutions as it employs cutting-edge overhead pantograph systems to deliver seamless, high-speed charging for zero-emission vehicles, including electric trucks and buses. The 600kW charging power, 1000V Voltage, 600A Current is ready for fast charging and is designed to meet the demands of the evolving transportation landscape. Resulting in a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology, robust design, and user-friendly features. With consultation from stakeholders, the concept demo of OH-ADC can be proposed to write National Regulatory Standards.

Along with OH-ACD, the organization is also be displaying its in-house ADAS Validation Platform, a Light Commercial Vehicle with E-Axle, 117 HP Engine for European customer and Battery Management System Training Kit. Moreover, the innovative Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Powertrain holds a significant position in the curation. These technologies will be instrumental in defining India’s readiness for faster adoption of green mobility.

For components, systems and sub-systems, ARAI has a dedicated service portfolio for certification and providing support in developmental validation which are listed at stall number H2-02, Yashobhoomi. At the venue, ARAI is also showcasing the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) Bike and Battery Management System Kit built by ARAI experts along with Light Weight Components from ARAI Fatigue Material Centre of Excellence, and Engine Models.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reji Mathai, Director said, “It is a great pleasure to host Hon’ble Minister Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy and have his presence for the announcements and launches. The support from Ministry of Heavy Industries has enabled ARAI expand its portfolio and facilities to enhance our expertise for serving the automotive industry. ARAI, while being a major stakeholder in homologation and developmental testing and standardization has also been fundamental in innovating technologies for sustainable mobility like Concept Demo of Over-Head Automated Charging Device, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Powertrain, which are at display at Bharat Mobility Global Expo. We are thrilled to showcase these technologies and drive conversations for greener tomorrow.”
