Environmental Statement

ARAI ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT FOR 2021-2022

Environmental Management System, in which environmental legal compliance and continual improvement is successfully demonstrated during surveillance audit conducted by TUV SUD.

Legal Compliance

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board granted renewal of Consent to Operate under Section 26 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 & Authorization under Rule 6 of the Hazardous and Other Waste (Management, Handling & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, valid till December 2022.

ARAI has conducted environmental monitoring of various parameters. For all the below parameters, the results are within the specified limits:

  • DG set stack & insertion loss monitoring
  • Stack emission monitoring
  • Drinking water quality check
  • Waste Water Quality monitoring and reuse of treated water for irrigation
  • Ambient air quality monitoring across ARAI
  • Ambient noise monitoring across ARAI

Waste Management

Under waste handling and disposal activities, ARAI has categorized various wastages generated by ARAI and eco-friendly disposal of the same is ensured.

  • Installed crusher machine for disposal of garden waste.
  • Tie-up with SERO for disposal of tested and End of Life vehicles.
  • Hazardous wastes like used oil, oil-soaked cotton/gloves, empty oil barrels and batteries are being disposed of through parties authorized as recyclers by Appropriate Authority.
  • Environmentally sound management systems are in place to handle hazardous waste, e-waste, and plastic waste.
  • This Institute has also implemented 5 'S'.

Measures taken for environmental protection

  • Measures taken to take advantage of natural light and to improve the ventilation in Workshop, the transparent roof sheets, and turbo-vents on a roof are placed in.
  • Energy efficient LED lighting and BEE certified energy efficient appliances are being used.
  • Eco-friendly waste disposal (Hazardous, E-waste, Non Hazardous waste & Plastic waste).
  • Various Activities during Swachh Bharat Pakhwada.
  • Green cover is being maintained through the regular plantation in & around premises of ARAI.
  • Rain Water Harvesting and measures for conservation of water.
  • Generation of electricity using solar energy.
  • Disposal of crash tested vehicles through authorized agency.
  • Massive tree plantation at all sites/ business locations of ARAI.
