Environment Research Laboratory
About Us

ARAI’s Environment Research Laboratory (ERL) has been established to pursue multidisciplinary and collaborative applied research in the field of vehicular exhaust and ambient air quality management. ERL’s mission is to facilitate research on the scientific, engineering, and health aspects of both particulate and gaseous air pollutants. ERL’s research efforts aim to mitigate the negative impacts of air emissions on the human health and environment and thereby contribute towards society. The researchers and staff at ERL employ theoretical, mathematical, experimental, and strategy approaches to different air pollution problems faced by industry, local, state and central governments, and non-government organizations.
Through their continuing research efforts ERL has developed comprehensive India specific database of vehicular emissions and source profiles and is being extensively used by Indian researchers for conducting their studies at various locations. In addition to research, ERL provides crucial services for ambient air monitoring and testing of pollutants for the assessment of levels and identification of polluting sources. It also undertake projects to understand the challenges with the use of alternate fuels material compatibility, emissions and performance, electric vehicles battery recyclability, and Indoor air quality.
