Data bank
Indian Automotive Material
Increasing environmental concerns and regulations for reduction in emissions are driving automobile industry to continuous weight reduction of vehicles. Decreasing the section thicknesses of various structural and body parts is an effective way to reduce the weight of the vehicle. However, it also requires the use of a stronger material with no compromise on ductility of the material. The good combination of strength and ductility is needed for ease of forming, better load bearing capacity and better crashworthiness of the structures. Today, Indian designers do not have data base available nor facility to generate properties for futuristic materials. Hence, ARAI has taken the initiative to develop capability to generate the material data bank for Advanced high strength steels and Aluminum Alloys by establishing the test facilities. This Data Bank covers various properties viz. Chemical, Monotonic, Metallurgical, Texture, Fatigue, High Strain Rate, NVH Aspects etc.

Road Profile
Road Profile is primary source of vehicle vibration. Hence it becomes important to study underlying road profiles better design of vehicle & reduce design time. ARAI SDl established the facility for measurement of the 2 road profile. We have scanned/digitized 10000 km of the Indian road profile in 2D format whereas around 700 km of the 3D road profile. This road profile data is available in .rdf (2D road profile) or .crg (3D road profile) format. These road profiles can directly use for the MBD simulation in various software package namely, MSC.ADAMS CARTM, SimpackTM, Car-SimTM . We have mobile portable road profile highly precise laser scanner and LiDAR scanner for digitization/scanning of the 2D road profile and 3D road profiles respectively.
