Market Survey

ARAI has captured customer requirement for various category of Vehicles by taking interview of users of vehicle as personal use or commercial use. The questionnaire for this was formulated such that can be further analyzed to arrive at driving and operational pattern. The various design inputs /parameters are analyzed to get data Region-wise and Vehicle-wise, and Personal or commercial usage-wise

This data can be used to outline the specifications and features of target vehicle. This data is market specific and depending upon requirement of OEM ARAI can offer data from existing database and/or provide additional fresh database for specific class of vehicle. This database is further extended to duty cycle database, where vehicle response data of almost 100+ channels for 1000+ kms of different category of vehicles can referred to understand change in vehicle response for external factors such driving habits, speed, road, etc. This database can also be used to decide the target duty cycle of vehicle.

Design CAE/ MBD

As a result of conceptualization a vehicle skeleton, target specifications along with design criteria are outlined. Here Design of components, aggregate and vehicle, integration at various stages is considered in the scope of OEM, Tier-1 Supplier etc. Activities carried out here are finalization of necessary design parameters, preparation of CAD drawings and design verification using virtual techniques.

Model Preparation and Validation: In the process of design CAE/ MBD ARAI can provide services for generating virtual Model (based on information received from customer, tuning/ validation of model against benchmarking data (at initial stage of project) or vehicle response data (at later stage of project so that reference for future development will be available).

Electronic power assisted steering (EPAS)

We have developed indigenous and cost effective technology solution for Electronic power assisted steering (EPAS). The algorithm is designed to address needs of Indian road and traffic conditions. EPAS system adapts the assist provided by the electric motor based upon the speed of the vehicle as well as the driver demand. The EPAS system is optimized keeping in mind Indian driving cycle and road conditions. Also the control logic speed thresholds are optimized to meet the Indian traffic /parking requirement.

With this EPAS technology development, ARAI is now able to offer the following development services in automotive lighting, Functional Architecture Development, Steering system design, Vehicle integration study & Consultancy for EPAS development and new technologies in the area of vehicle Lateral control.
